I am chapstick dependent and in being as such, have diminished my epidermic ability to maintain a healthy balance of moisture within the cells of my epithelium. [ Sorry. I watched my favorite sitcom last night---The Big Bang Theory. It makes me want to talk smart when really I have no idea what I am talking about at all.]
It’s a vicious cycle. The more I use, the more I need to use.
And people think I am kidding—but I am being completely serious.
As serious as a person can be when blogging about chapstick.
The thing is, going through life with chapped lips is like going through life being thirsty all the time.
It just doesn’t matter what else is going on, who else is doing what, whether you have a Venti or a Grande Starbucks, what color that SmartCar was that just drove by…
When you need chapstick and there is no chapstick to be found—all you can think about is where you are going to find your next relief chapstick.
And I am chapstick specific dependent.
To be specific.
Meaning:
I have an explicit brand—which is Chapstick
I have an explicit flavor—which is Classic.
I have an explicit time of day for usage—which is every 18 minutes.
I have an explicit method of application—-just kidding.
The thing is, my explicit flavor used to be orange.
Waaaay back when—while I was still young and developing my chapstick dependence, the company manufactured an orange flavored Chapstick. To this day, I am no longer able to locate any orange flavor chapstick—manufactured by the brand: CHAPSTICK.
Sure, there are knockoff brands and faux flavors.
I am Chapstick specific dependent.
Can you help me track down a few hundred tubes of orange Chapstick?
If you locate any—any at all—you can find me staring out the back door.
All day.
‘Cause I could truly just stand here and stare at this all the live long day—-just as long as I have my Chapstick.

Everytime you talk about your chapstick I have to find my “Carmex – cherry flavored lip balm”. You are turning me into an addict! But my lips are much happier now!

That’s funny! I have a bulk pack from BJ’s wholesale that I bought in January and forgot about. Came across it a few days ago and was so delighted. It’s a sad day when you get that excited about chapstick

Not sure if mandarin will cut the mustard … but it could be worth a try … no?

I love my Bonnie Bell Strawberry chapstick in the large economy size!

I still have a tube of the original orange flavor!! My last one… As bad as it sounds I still use it! But they discontinued that flavor in the mid 90′s.. My parents bought cases of it from work when they heard the news. But they have a new flavor out.. Orange mandrin or something. I’m going to give it a try. Or just start a facebook club to get it brought back lol.

I COMPLETELY understand your need for Orange Chapstick. I, too, have been searching for Orange Chapstick for months!!! I LOVE it. It gets the job done for me, and it gives my lips a very natural glow that is not necessarily done with lipstick. I will continue my search. Nothing else will do. I even tried SEVERAL orange lipsticks, but it’s just not the same. I wonder why this color was discontinued?

BONNIE BELL? I never heard of such a thing. Please send pics.

NO? You do? I can’t believe it. Please let me know your research progress. You are my only hope

Sooo I started the page, just to see what it does “bring back the original chapstick orange flavor!” Maybe the guys from chapstick will finally see how much it is missed

Beautiful picture! I love taking in special moments
I only became a fan of Cherry Chapstick, but orange is sounding pretty yummy! I’ll have to try the Mandarin as a substitute. I think we’re all dependent on something though. Mine is Dr. Pepper! Good luck with your search…

Oh, and Bonnie Bell does have some amazing flavors too!

I totally remember that orange Chapstick. And since I’ve been know to be “one who can get things”, I thought I would do a little research for you. Turns out the Chapstick website has this info:
Does ChapStick® lip balm contain a sunscreen?
Yes. ChapStick® in the regular, cherry, strawberry, mint, and orange (disc. 1997) flavors contains padimate O, which is a sunscreen and has a SPF of about 3-4. ChapStick® Moisturizer has an SPF of 15, and ChapStick® Ultra 30 has an SPF of 30.
And there you have it. Discontinued. 1997. Meaning, even if you could find an overstock or some leftover sample on ebay, it would probably be 13 years old.
On another note, I am quite fond of lip balm myself. And now, if you lean in, I’m going to share the secret to my luscious lips:

Upgrade your lip balm and accept no substitute.

lol, I found this post while I was on my own quest to find orange Chapstick. Yeah, I know they don’t make it anymore, but I still look every now and then just in case ….
The last tube I found was in a dusty drug store while on vacation in the mountains in 1995.
The closest thing I have found is Bonne Bell lip smackers lip balm in Fanta Orange. It’s very orange-y and the best sub. I’ve found so far! It’s not as waxy as Chapstick, but the scent/flavor is right.
(I had to buy a pack of 4 lip smackers to get it, but it was worth it.)
Add me to the club – I know you want to hoard it if you find it anywhere, but I would love a tube – yeah, even an old tube – if you find a stash somewhere

There is a great one called Tokyo Orange Sherbet at Shabu Shabu Organics on Etsy. It’s pretty amazing. You can find it here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/shabushabulipbalm

Oh my gosh, I have been searching for years also! People have to understand that any other brand of orange just isnt the same! Chapstick brand was and is the best. My grandma used to catch me eating it when I was a kid, LOL sooo funny. If you find it let me know, as will I for you!
