The Griswold Family Vacation

by Daune O'Brien on December 31, 2010 · 12 comments

One could use a collection of worlds to describe our family vacation.

Off the top of my head, good descriptives include:

Illness,

crying,

hours of traffic,

crying,

illness,

bumper to bumper,

missing medications,

lost cameras,

crying, motrin,

lost Blackberry,

vicks vapor rub,

crying,

lost triplet,

fever,

[then there is disney fun magic sunshine sparkles laughter smiles]

[lets not forgot beach swimming mickey ears fireworks mickeywaffles]

[and my favorite christmas cheer love snow cinderella family family family]

Tire blow out on interstate,

coughing,

brakes going bad,

hives,

brand new set of truck tires,

diarrhea,

theraflu,

benadryl,

cough drops…you get the  point.

All I really want to emphasize can be nicely summed up in one shiny button…

Photobucket

And I use the word “survived” cautiously as I am still trying to recover from the road-trip plague that 5 out of 7 of us passed to and fro and fro and to one another during the entire 9 day….1900 mile adventure to Walt Disney World, then Clearwater and back home.

I can also somewhat assure you that what we found in the driveway when we pulled in after a very very very very very very long 2 day drive home [with triplets plus 2] in no way, shape, or form surprised us.

Not really in the least.

Because after all, it was the perfect ending to our Griswold Family Christmas. From start to finish, we do things with a :::::BBBB-BANG:::::::

Or in this case,

Photobucket

::::Ssssssssss-SNAP:::::::

Someday I will look back on the entire experience and love every minute of it!  Right now I am up to loving about every other minute of it.

We hope that your New Year enters with a BANG—a good one, of course. Not the tree snapping, nearly take out two vehicles kind.

As soon as I unpack, find my media reader and sort through 489, 234 photo’s, I will upload and share more of our crazy road trip story.

Happy New Year. Hope you find lots of ways to squeeze the pulp out of 2011.

Oh Duane…I bet when you talk about this trip it will begin with “Remember when we took that Christmas family vacation and we were all sick…” and then everyone will chime in with all the fond memories they have and wonder if anyone was really sick cause they don’t remember that part!

Can’t wait to see the pictures!!

Happy New Year to you and the family!

Eeek! That is a big tree. Maybe carve it into some decorative totem poles? Something to ward of illness? Do you live in a hood where you can have a bonfire? I live in the middle of the woods, so I’d take that tree and make it’s disposal a party ;)

Wood stove, baby! I do like the totem pole idea, though…

Yikes I am glad the tree didn’t land on your house. You would think a neighbor would have called ya or something and told ya that had happened. You seriously need to talk to me about the product I use, the one that gives ya 72 vitamins and nutrients in one scoop. I am telling you I have not had one thing while everyone else around me has had the creeping crud. At least you are home..

Well…I guess I won’t be complaining about my one day drive to FL then.

I hope you have a plague-free 2011!

Oh that’s terrible that so many of you were so sick! I’m glad you did have some fun though. We had several trees fall right after Christmas. Not sure but I guess it was the snow. Have a great 2011!
